Consultancy

Why Consultancy?

Every company has a need to innovate and will in the process encounter specific challenges. In some cases, the solutions to these challenges might be outside the expertise of the company and can therefore easily be overlooked. So it can be advantageous to get an external sparring partner involved who has a broad overview of technical disciplines.

About me

My name is Jeroen Vleggaar and I have a PhD in physical chemistry. In the past I have worked for companies such as Philips Research, Ford Automotive, Uniax (Dupont Displays), Mapper Lithography and several companies developing database-driven applications.

For the last 20 years I have been self-employed, producing optical components for astronomy and worked as a mechanical / optical / software engineer. I also have an extensive knowledge of photolithography (both optical and e-beam) and thin film technology. I'm always looking for innovating ways in which current products can be improved.

Because of my technical background I can communicate effectively with researchers, technicians, software developers and mechanical / optical designers. Having a hands-on approach, I mainly focus on practical solutions that can be realised quickly. Consultancy can be offered as remote assistence from Hilversum, as well as on site or as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Currently I am only available for consultancy assignments inside the European Union and generally don't do NDA's.

About Huygens Optics

In 2010 Huygens Optics started with the production of high-quality telescope mirrors (250-500mm diameter) for serious amateur astronomers. By sheer coincidence a workshop was found in the Huygensstraat in Hilversum. Because Christiaan Huygens (1629-1695) is in my opinion the most famous Dutch scientist of all times, the activity was named in his honour.

Since 2015, Huygens Optics is offering services in the area of glass / ceramics machining and optics. The workshop has moved since then from the Huygensstraat to a location in Hilversum Kerkelanden. The workshop for glass and ceramics processing is a valuable supplement to the consultancy and allows for the rapid manufacture of test parts and small prototypes.
